The Royal College Karate team is a leading school Karate team in Sri Lanka. Karate is an ancient martial art that originated in Japan.
The word ‘Karate’ means ‘free hand’ or ‘bare hand.’ Throughout the past years, Royal College Karate players have had many achievements both in the local and international arenas.
The first few Royal College Karate Coloursmen Chamal Rajapaksha, Thevindu Herath, and 2nd-year coloursmen Malaka Perera, Esala Mapa, Pasindu Wickramaarachchi, and Devindu Herath, have been integral in bringing glory to the College.
The Royal College is the only winner of the Shihan Takashishibuaya Memorial Trophy, which has been played annually since 2017. Last year the Royal College Karate team emerged 2nd Runners-up at the National School Games.
In 2019 the Royal College Karate captain Malaka Perera was the captain of the Sri Lanka Junior Karate team for the year 2019.
